A forthcoming intense heatwave may soon cause temperatures in the UK to rise to 38C, as per weather forecasting data. Yesterday marked the hottest day of the year and the hottest June day ever recorded, with Santon Downham reaching 37.3C amid an ongoing heatwave.

The Met Office issued rare red weather warnings due to extreme heat in England, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning that led to significant property damage in some regions. The latest Met Office forecast indicates a decrease in peak temperatures below 30C tomorrow, but there are expectations of surpassing the 30C mark again soon.

According to the GFS weather model, a four-day heatwave is projected to commence on July 8, with temperatures ranging from 30C to 33C across central and southern England. On July 9, temperatures are expected to soar up to 36C near London, with 35C anticipated in southern and eastern England, and around 30C in parts of Wales.

Temperatures are forecasted to rise to 38C on July 10, particularly in western England and the south. On July 11, temperatures could once again reach 38C in areas like the north-west, Midlands, Yorkshire, and the south-east, with regions as far north as the England-Scotland border likely to experience temperatures exceeding 30C.

Temperature anomaly maps highlight the UK, especially England, shaded in deep red, indicating temperatures well above the seasonal average. The GFS weather model maps suggest that 17 counties in England could witness temperatures reaching or exceeding 38C.

The Met Office anticipates “hot” conditions in July with a potential for “thundery showers.” The forecast for July 11 to 25 suggests a likelihood of settled and drier conditions due to high pressure patterns, with temperatures expected to be above normal, occasionally leading to hot conditions.
