The Met Office forecast indicates the likelihood of snow later in December, with a period of changeable conditions across the UK, including showers, rain, and hill snow in the north, along with possible strong winds and average to slightly above-average temperatures.

Looking ahead to the period from December 22 to January 4, BBC Weather forecasts continued uncertainty but expects changeable weather with occasional rain or showers and periods of strong winds, mainly mild conditions, and the possibility of brief colder intervals with snow mainly in northern uplands. There are indications that weather patterns may shift by January, potentially leading to colder weather if the NAO pattern changes from positive to negative, influenced by disturbances in the upper atmosphere.
