Parts of the United Kingdom are expected to experience warmer weather next week, surpassing temperatures in popular holiday destinations. Recent data indicates a significant surge in temperatures above the usual seasonal averages.
Although some regions may still encounter chilly conditions, there are promising signs of increasing temperatures. The ECMWF weather model predicts temperatures reaching 17C in certain parts of England. By next Thursday, temperatures could reach 16C in southern and eastern areas during midday.
Expect highs of 14C and 15C across England during this period, with cooler conditions anticipated in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, and the northern parts of England.
Temperatures are projected to continue rising, with eastern England, including Cambridge and Peterborough, potentially hitting 17C by 6pm. Areas like Yorkshire, the Midlands, and southern regions, including London, could reach 16C.
In contrast, sunny destinations like Benidorm and Ibiza are forecasted to reach only 15C. Temperature anomaly maps for the same date show deep red colors over England, indicating temperatures well above the seasonal norms.
The Met Office anticipates “plenty of dry weather” and “some sunshine” in the upcoming days. The forecast for March 3 to 12 highlights a dominance of high pressure, especially in the south and southeast of the UK. This will result in dry conditions with variable cloud cover and occasional sunshine, particularly in the southern areas. However, frontal systems could bring rain, strong winds, and possibly snow to northern regions.
Temperatures are expected to be near or above normal, with occasional overnight frosts.
