A recent exhibition offered fans a unique glimpse into some of David Bowie’s iconic photographs, showcasing his remarkable career and personal moments not widely known to the public. The event at the Lightroom featured photographers Denis O’Regan, Kevin Cummins, Chris Duffy, Tony McGee, Geoff MacCormack, and Richard Young, who shared their experiences of capturing intimate aspects of Bowie’s life during his rise to fame.

Titled “David Bowie: You’re Not Alone,” the exhibition in London provides a closer look at the artist’s life, while “Bowie Nights” celebrated his extensive career, curated by individuals who had a front-row view of his journey. Geoff MacCormack, a close friend of Bowie since childhood, reminisced about their friendship and shared anecdotes of their travels together, highlighting Bowie’s aversion to flying despite his global success.

Reflecting on a photo taken during the filming of “The Man Who Fell To Earth” in 1976, MacCormack debunked misconceptions about Bowie’s health at the time, emphasizing their enjoyable and healthy lifestyle during the filming period. The exhibition also pays homage to Brian Duffy’s iconic photo for Bowie’s “Aladdin Sane” album cover, revealing the lesser-known “eyes open” version approved for Kevin Cann’s book, “Any Day Now.”

Denis O’Regan, renowned for capturing Bowie’s electrifying stage presence, particularly during his Ziggy Stardust era, shared his experience of photographing the artist at the National Bowl in Milton Keynes in 1983. The event attracted over 150,000 fans, with O’Regan capturing the raw energy and connection between Bowie and his audience, including a memorable moment of a fan throwing a toilet paper roll on stage.
