A tourist from the US, Nickolas Wiegand, recently claimed to have captured images of the Loch Ness Monster during his visit to the Scottish Highlands. Wiegand, who was on a tour to Loch Ness, initially missed noticing the mysterious creature in his photos until he reviewed them later in the day. The sighting marked the fifth reported appearance of the legendary beast this year.
According to Wiegand, he inadvertently spotted the enigmatic figure in the water while reviewing the footage he captured during the tour. He described the object as large and unidentified, breaking the water’s surface at a considerable distance from the shore. Several other sightings of the Loch Ness Monster have been reported this year, including encounters by Holly Palmer, Scott McMillan, Margaret Sunstrum, Joan Sweeney, and Sara Gubicza.
Wiegand’s sighting joins the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register for 2026, alongside other documented encounters. The number of reported sightings has varied over the years, with six sightings in 2025, three in the previous year, and ongoing observations adding to the intrigue surrounding the mythical creature.
