After her son accused her of interfering with his wedding and being overly controlling, Victoria Beckham has seen a surge in her solo music sales, making her the top-selling solo artist of the week.

The Official Charts Company Download Chart revealed that Victoria’s solo track “Not Such An Innocent Girl” was the most downloaded song of the week, 25 years after its initial release. The song not only re-entered the singles sales chart but also claimed the top spot.

This spike in sales followed a public statement from her son, Brooklyn, criticizing both Victoria and her husband, David. Brooklyn alleged that his parents had been manipulating him and fabricating stories to protect their public image. One of the contentious claims was that Victoria had taken over his first dance at his 2022 wedding and behaved inappropriately.

The internet reacted strongly to Brooklyn’s statement, with supporters divided into two camps: Team Brooklyn and Team Beckham. The latter group showed their support by purchasing and downloading Victoria’s 2001 single in large numbers.

While “Not Such An Innocent Girl” did not reach the overall singles chart’s top spot, it did claim the top position in the sales chart, beating out other popular tracks like Dave/Tems’ “Raindance” and Djo’s “End Of Beginning.”

The sales chart ranks the top 40 singles based on downloads, physical formats like CDs and vinyl, excluding streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music.

Victoria’s solo hit had previously peaked at number six on the singles chart in 2001 but had not appeared on the sales chart before. Her successful solo career followed her time as a member of the iconic girl group Spice Girls, where she was known as Posh Spice alongside Mel B, Mel C, Emma, and Geri.

After transitioning from music to fashion in 2008, Victoria focused on her eponymous brand, which was mentioned in Brooklyn’s statement regarding his brother’s wedding dress. However, reports from Vogue contradicted Brooklyn’s claim, stating that the gown worn by Nicola Peltz had been in the works for a year with no involvement from Victoria.

Victoria Beckham and David Beckham have not publicly addressed their son’s accusations. The couple has three other children: sons Romeo and Cruz, and daughter Harper.
