Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been cleared to play after being removed from the seven-day injured list. He is set to participate in the upcoming game against the New York Yankees. Guerrero sustained an injury during a recent match against the Yankees in Toronto when he collided with George Lombard Jr., a rookie shortstop from New York, in an unusual play at third base during the sixth inning. The incident led to Guerrero’s helmet coming off after Lombard’s knee and thigh made contact with his head. Despite the injury, Guerrero managed to score the tying run before leaving the field.

Following his return to the team on Friday, Guerrero successfully passed all necessary concussion tests. He also participated in a minor league rehab game for single-A Dunedin, where he hit a double and took some swings in the batting cage. In the Saturday lineup against the Yankees, Guerrero was placed second in the batting order. This decision came after the Blue Jays suffered a 3-1 defeat in the series opener on Friday. To make room for Guerrero’s return, the team opted to send infielder/outfielder Davis Schneider down to triple-A Buffalo.

Guerrero boasts a batting average of .263 this season, along with seven home runs and 46 runs batted in. Before the collision that led to his injury, he had been on a hot streak, hitting .310 (7 for 29) in his last seven games.
