A mother from North Wales is fighting for her life in a hospital after falling seriously ill at an airport on a holiday island. Jade Bird, aged 33, was on a vacation in Tenerife and was supposed to return home last Wednesday. However, she fell ill at the airport, experiencing a severe headache and earache.
Medical professionals called for an ambulance due to the severity of her condition, which led to her being rushed to the hospital. A brain scan revealed an infection, and she was placed in an induced coma. The infection has progressed to meningitis.
Jade’s family members, including her sister-in-law Victoria Bird and her mother Janine, have traveled to Tenerife to support her. They are now working to bring her back home, but the cost of a medical evacuation is estimated to be over £50,000.
To assist Jade, who works as a carer for vulnerable adults, and her family, a GoFundMe page has been set up. Over £7,500 has already been raised to aid in her medical expenses.
Victoria shared the distressing situation, mentioning the challenges they face being in a foreign country with a language barrier. The family is deeply concerned about Jade’s 6-year-old daughter, Skyla, who is unaware of her mother’s condition and needs her back home.
The family is seeking financial support for the costly medical evacuation and emphasized Jade’s kind-hearted nature, appealing for assistance to bring her home. They are overwhelmed by the situation and the uncertainty of being able to afford the necessary medical care abroad.
