In the remote French Pyrenees near the Spanish border, 700 firefighters are struggling to contain a rampant wildfire that forced the evacuation of over 10,000 people. The Pyrenees fire, which nearly tripled in size within a day, came perilously close to homes. French officials have expressed concerns over the worsening conditions, highlighting the significant increase in burned land compared to the previous year.

International reinforcements have been dispatched to central Portugal, where firefighters and aircraft are battling a massive fire burning for more than three days. In Greece, residents in parts of Thessaloniki are advised to stay indoors and seal windows and doors due to toxic smoke from a burning recycling plant.
