A woman in her 60s has passed away after encountering difficulties at Helen’s Bay beach on Saturday afternoon. The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) received a call at 1 pm and transported the woman to the hospital, where she unfortunately succumbed. Authorities have stated that her death is not considered suspicious. Numerous witnesses provided assistance before multiple emergency response teams arrived at the scene.
In response to the incident, a Coastguard helicopter, along with Bangor and Portaferry Coastguard rescue teams and police, were dispatched. Additionally, a rapid response paramedic, a Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) crew, a critical care paramedic, and an ambulance officer attended the location.
Three individuals, including the woman, needed medical attention. Two of them were transferred to the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald, while the third person was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. NIAS has not disclosed further details about the incident.
