The recent discovery of the wrecked Boeing 737 in the Arabian Sea has shed light on the final moments of the pilot as efforts intensify to find the missing individuals on board. Air traffic control lost contact with the cargo plane, carrying at least five people, before it swiftly descended off the coast of Pakistan.

According to the latest communication from the pilot, it appears there was a struggle to maintain control of the aircraft, with the PNS Zulfiqar described as “rolling or floating,” indicating a possible critical issue with the flight system.

In aviation terminology, “rolling” refers to a lateral tilt of the aircraft, often associated with turns. However, an uncommanded roll can signify a serious problem like flight control failure or turbulence. Conversely, “floating” is a term related to landing, suggesting the aircraft remains airborne above the runway due to speed or other factors.

The Boeing 737 belonging to K2 Airways was on a cargo flight from Sharjah to Karachi when it reported a navigation system fault. Radar data indicated a rapid descent and abrupt directional change before all communication was lost.

The aircraft’s descent rate was unusually high, plummeting approximately 35,000 feet in less than two minutes. An extensive search and rescue operation is underway to locate the crew members.

K2 Airways’ only plane, a converted 737-400, entered service in 2024 and is based at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi. The airline, founded in 2017, focuses on cargo services connecting domestic and international destinations.
