Zoe Ball recently shared her thoughts on her new radio gig following a missed opportunity to host on the popular show “Strictly Come Dancing.” Starting September 7, the 55-year-old will host a weekday afternoon show on Greatest Hits Radio.

In a conversation on the Dig It podcast alongside Jo Whiley, Zoe expressed her mixed emotions as she embarks on this “scary” new phase in her career. She mentioned feeling excited about returning to work after taking time off to support her daughter Nelly, especially after the disappointment of not landing the hosting role on “Strictly Come Dancing.”

Zoe highlighted the appeal of her new time slot from 1 pm to 4 pm, stating that it allows her to balance being a mom in the mornings and evenings, providing her the flexibility to be there for her daughter when needed. Joining the lineup at Greatest Hits Radio, Zoe acknowledged her nerves about being the newcomer but praised the team and the station for welcoming her warmly.

She expressed her enthusiasm for playing music from the 70s, 80s, and 90s on the show and expressed gratitude to her former colleagues at BBC Radio 2 for their support. Zoe also confirmed her commitment to podcasting while taking on this new radio role.

Although Zoe faced disappointment in not securing the Strictly hosting position, she remains positive and supportive of the new hosts selected for the show. She reflected on her journey through the stages of rejection and expressed her confidence in the upcoming hosts’ abilities.

As she embarks on this new radio venture, Zoe is eager to dive back into her radio career, bringing her energy and passion to listeners five days a week.
