Published on

An 11-year-old boy, identified as Mackenzie Swift, has gone missing after reportedly entering the River Don in Doncaster. South Yorkshire Police initiated a search for him around 8pm on Saturday near Ferry Boat Lane in Mexborough. Collaborating with South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team, and an underwater search team, authorities continued efforts to locate Mackenzie on Monday.

In an update, South Yorkshire Police conveyed to Mackenzie’s family that survival in the water for the duration since Saturday seemed unlikely. Despite ongoing search endeavors, there has been no evidence suggesting Mackenzie emerged from the river. The family is receiving support and regular updates on the search progress.

Chief Superintendent Pete Thorp, the Doncaster District Commander, expressed commitment to finding Mackenzie and assisting his family during this challenging period. Specialized resources and organizations are being deployed for the search operation. Public cooperation is urged, emphasizing the importance of leaving search activities to professional teams to ensure safety and focused search efforts.

The search operation participants maintain their thoughts and efforts centered on finding Mackenzie and supporting his family during this distressing time.
