A passenger aircraft had to declare an emergency shortly after departing from Manchester Airport. The incident occurred on an EasyJet flight U22253 bound for Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt. The aircraft, an Airbus A320neo with a capacity of 150 to 180 passengers, halted its climb at 3,700 feet due to a medical emergency onboard.

The flight crew activated the Squawk 7700 code, signaling a general in-flight emergency. Following emergency protocols, the pilots prepared the aircraft for a quick return and executed an unscheduled landing back at Manchester Airport.

Upon landing, local emergency teams and airport fire services were on standby as a precaution. EasyJet later confirmed that the diversion was due to a medical issue onboard. This incident follows another emergency landing by an EasyJet flight from Hurghada to Luton, which diverted to Rome due to a passenger mistakenly leaving a phone charging in their luggage.

Passengers from the diverted flight were accommodated in hotels or at the airport until the carrier’s next scheduled flight.
