A mother and her male partner have been convicted of multiple sexual offenses against the woman’s two teenage daughters. The woman, whose identity is protected, had her daughters placed in care due to her drug addiction when they were young, as disclosed in Leicester Crown Court.
Over a span of 10 years, the woman was in a relationship with the male defendant, resulting in the birth of four children who were also taken into care, according to a report by Leicestershire Live. As the daughters reached their later teenage years, they began to have increased contact with their mother.
In 2022, the elder daughter, aged 16 at the time, visited her mother’s residence in central Leicester. During this visit, the mother and her partner engaged in inappropriate behavior, with the man attempting to involve the daughter in a sexual manner, leading to the mother being charged with inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
In a separate incident, the younger daughter, then 18, was left alone with the man by her mother, who went to smoke cannabis on the balcony. The man proceeded to sexually assault the girl, leading to charges of assault by penetration, sexual touching, and two counts of sexual assault.
Both the man and the woman were also charged with intimidating a victim of crime by sending voice messages to one of the girls, advising her against supporting the prosecution. Despite denying the charges, they were found guilty by a jury, and the woman later admitted to attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The sentencing took place at Leicester Crown Court, where victim impact statements from the daughters were read, expressing their feelings of betrayal and fear. The male defendant received a prison sentence of five years and one month, while the woman was given a suspended two-year imprisonment, along with drug rehabilitation and courses to prevent reoffending.
During sentencing, the emotional mother committed to completing rehabilitation and quitting drug use, shedding tears in the courtroom.
