Frogmore Cottage is poised to undergo a transformation that will reverse the £2.4 million renovations made during the time it was occupied by Meghan and Harry. The property, originally two semi-detached houses gifted to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex by the late Queen in 2018, is set to be returned to its original state as the couple has long vacated the premises.

Following their departure to California less than two years after moving in, King Charles evicted Harry and Meghan from Frogmore Cottage in 2023, leaving the residence unoccupied since then. While the couple no longer have a residence in the UK, Harry intends to return with Meghan and their children once security concerns are addressed.

The property has remained empty for three years, prompting speculation about its future occupants within the royal household. The extensive renovations undertaken for the Sussexes, which included creating a yoga studio and upgrading various utilities, took nearly a year to complete. Harry repaid the £2.4 million refurbishment costs six months after leaving the property, located in Home Park, Windsor, Berkshire.

Reportedly, plans are being considered to revert the address back to its original two-building configuration. The property’s history and its connection to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to be erased, marking a symbolic shift back to its pre-Meghan and Harry era. Frogmore Cottage was previously offered to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in exchange for relinquishing his lease on the nearby Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park.

After receiving the property, Harry and Meghan personally funded additional enhancements, such as a copper bathtub and interior design by Vicky Charles. Despite briefly residing in the cottage before moving to Canada and later California, the couple’s ties to Frogmore Cottage are being gradually erased as the property undergoes significant changes.
