“Monzo Unveils Mobile Plans with Loyalty Discounts”

Published on

Monzo is set to introduce its inaugural mobile plans, offering yearly discounts to its customers. The launch of Monzo Mobile is scheduled for this summer, with a waitlist now open for interested individuals. The plan options include 10GB of UK data for £8 per month and a package featuring 30GB of UK data along with 10GB of Europe roaming for £12 monthly.

Moreover, a premium plan will be available, providing unlimited UK data and 25GB of global roaming for £20 per month. Exclusively for Monzo customers, loyalty discounts will be granted, offering a 5% reduction on monthly bills annually, with a maximum total discount of 30% off the retail price.

All plans will be flexible, allowing customers to switch or cancel without incurring exit fees at any time. The management of mobile bills, including data usage tracking and roaming monitoring, can be conveniently handled through the Monzo app.

Operating via an eSIM, a digital SIM card integrated directly into devices, the service will utilize the Virgin Media O2 network, ensuring more than 99% coverage across the UK. Duygu Yenidogan-Schmidt, General Manager for Core Banking at Monzo, expressed the company’s commitment to providing a seamless and rewarding mobile experience for customers, emphasizing flexibility, reliable coverage, and transparency.

While Monzo Mobile offers yearly discounts, other providers may offer cheaper initial deals. For instance, Lebara offers a plan with 10GB of UK data for £5.95 monthly on a rolling contract through comparison platforms. Talkmobile customers can enjoy 20GB of data for the same price, and ID Mobile provides options such as 25GB of UK data for £6 monthly and an unlimited plan for £15 per month.

For individuals not under contract, exploring potential savings on their mobile bills is recommended. Comparing usage needs with available deals on comparison websites can help identify cost-effective options. After comparing prices, switching to a new provider for better rates or negotiating with the current provider for improved terms are viable strategies.

Additionally, individuals receiving benefits should check eligibility for reduced social tariffs, which may offer broadband starting from £12 per month and mobile services from £10 monthly. Eligibility criteria vary among suppliers, and specific benefits determining eligibility are not standardized.
