Former Attorney General Bondi Dodges Trump Questions

Published on

Former Attorney General Pam Bondi avoided answering questions about President Donald Trump during a hearing related to the Jeffrey Epstein case, as revealed by Democratic Rep. Robert Garcia on Friday.

Garcia informed reporters at Capitol Hill that Bondi had testified about Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche leading the investigation into Epstein. He criticized Bondi for deflecting responsibility to Blanche for errors in the investigation and redactions, including her refusal to discuss any interactions with Trump regarding Epstein.

According to Garcia, Bondi declined to provide any information about Trump’s involvement, stating she would not address questions relating to the President. Fellow Democratic lawmakers, including California Rep. Dave Min and Virginia Rep. James Walkinshaw, expressed frustration over Bondi’s lack of transparency.

Epstein, a disgraced financier, died by suicide in a New York City jail cell in 2019 while facing sex trafficking charges. During her testimony before the House Oversight Committee, Bondi acknowledged errors in redacting the Epstein files but stressed the Department’s commitment to accountability and transparency.

Bondi emphasized the Department’s readiness to investigate any potential criminal activities linked to Epstein and his associates. She described the release of the files as a complex process, ensuring that the Justice Department complied with legal requirements.

Outside the hearing, survivors of Epstein’s crimes gathered to demand accountability for the release of sensitive information in the files. They urged legislators, including Committee Chair James Comer, to ensure full disclosure as mandated by law.

President Trump, who has denied any involvement in the Epstein case, has not faced criminal accusations or investigations related to the matter. The survivors and lawmakers continue to push for justice and transparency in handling the Epstein files.
