A tragic incident unfolded as a teenager lost his life after venturing into a lake in Nottinghamshire. Authorities responded to a distress call at Balderton Lake in New Balderton, near Newark, around 2:30 pm on Thursday, reporting a young man entering the water.
Emergency services, including the police, fire department, and paramedics, arrived at the scene and rescued a 19-year-old male from the lake. The teenager, who had been at the lake with friends, received on-site medical attention before being transported to a hospital, as per Nottinghamshire Live.
Nottinghamshire Police later confirmed the sad news of the young man’s passing in an update on Saturday. Chief Inspector Clive Collings expressed condolences to the family of the deceased, acknowledging the community’s potential distress and urging individuals to seek support if needed.
Group manager Charlotte Weatherall-Smith from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service extended sympathies to the affected family and emphasized the dangers of open water.
