A 21-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident where a car veered off the road and allegedly struck a pedestrian multiple times in Northumberland.

Authorities were alerted to a serious assault on Upper Barresdale in Alnwick around 6:40 pm on Friday. Reports indicated that a black Audi A3 intentionally targeted a pedestrian before fleeing the scene. The victim, a man in his 30s, suffered severe leg injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he remains under medical care.

Following the incident, Northumbria Police initiated an inquiry and apprehended the 21-year-old suspect on suspicion of attempted murder. The individual is currently in police custody.

Detective Sergeant Adele Catlow expressed concern over the severity of the incident, emphasizing that the individuals involved likely had prior acquaintance.
