After winning a £5.2 million lottery jackpot, a former delivery driver surprised his ex-colleagues at Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex with flowers and Lotto tickets. Gary MacDonald, who worked for over 30 years at the shopping center, decided to retire early following his windfall. He recently visited his old workplace with a hamper of gifts, fulfilling a promise he made to himself.

Reflecting on his eventful year, which included getting married and moving to a new home in Essex, MacDonald expressed his delight at being able to share his joy with his former coworkers. Donna Samuels, the manager at a shop in Lakeside, described the visit as an “incredible surprise” and praised MacDonald for his generosity and positive attitude.

MacDonald spoke fondly of his time as a delivery driver, highlighting the connections he built with people at Lakeside. He mentioned that after winning the lottery, he always intended to include those who were a part of his daily life in his plans. Despite some delays, MacDonald was thrilled to see the happiness his visit brought to his old colleagues.

The lottery winner humorously mentioned that his wife took advantage of the occasion for a shopping spree, joking about his first post-win purchase being a Shark vacuum cleaner. The heartwarming reunion at Lakeside showcased MacDonald’s genuine and caring nature, leaving a lasting impression on those who knew him.
