“Father Shields Face in Court on Weapons Charges”

Published on

The father of the individual who murdered Henry Nowak shielded his face with a notepad upon arriving at court facing weapons charges. Moga Singh, aged 52, appeared in court with his sons Gurpreet Digwa, 27, and Vickrum Digwa, 23, to answer to six counts of possessing offensive weapons in a private setting. The alleged weapons included various items such as a flick knife, an extendable baton, knuckledusters, a machete, swords, and kusaris.

Gurpreet Digwa was additionally charged with four counts of possessing an offensive weapon, including an asp in a public place, a prohibited air rifle, an axe in a public setting, and a kirpan knife in a public area.

This court appearance took place at Southampton Magistrates Court shortly after Vickrum Digwa received a life sentence with a minimum of 21 years for fatally stabbing 18-year-old Henry Nowak in the city the previous year. The prosecutor, Natalie Angel, requested more time to review the charges against the defendants, citing the recovery of multiple weapons in the case.

The defense attorney, Harmail Gill, asked for a four-week adjournment to allow both sides to consider the charges. The Chair of the magistrates, Jennifer Pitt, granted the adjournment until July 9, releasing Moga Singh and Gurpreet Digwa on unconditional bail until the next hearing, while Vickrum Digwa, already serving a prison sentence, was granted technical bail.

Addressing Moga Singh and Gurpreet Digwa, Jennifer Pitt instructed them to be present at 1.30 pm for the next hearing, while allowing Vickrum Digwa to participate via videolink from prison. The weapons offenses were reported to have occurred between December 4, 2025, and the day following Henry’s tragic death.
