Ed Sheeran has announced his decision to take a break from music. The popular singer is currently touring in the United States as part of his Loop Tour, with a recent performance at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
After concluding the American leg of his tour on November 7 in Tampa, Ed will continue his journey to Latin America for shows in Chile, Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico, wrapping up the tour on December 12 in Mexico City.
Despite the enthusiastic support from fans at his concerts, Ed has revealed his plans to step back from the music industry and focus on his family instead. During a concert in Arizona, the 35-year-old artist expressed his intention to take a break after the tour ends to spend more time with his two daughters, Lyra and Jupiter, whom he shares with his wife, Cherry Seaborn.
This break is not unfamiliar territory for Ed, who previously took extended hiatuses following the success of his albums. In 2015, he took a nine-month break after the immense success of his album “Multiply.” Additionally, after his Divide tour, Ed took an 18-month break to recharge.
Recently, Ed Sheeran was recognized as the UK’s most-played artist in 2025 by music licensing agency PPL. He expressed gratitude for the continued support of his music and fans, acknowledging the significance of being the top-played artist across radio, TV, and public venues.
Ed’s music continues to resonate with audiences, with an average of 574 plays per day according to PPL. His popularity remains evident as he remains a prominent figure in the music industry, alongside other notable artists like Calvin Harris, Dua Lipa, and more.
