“England Team Forced Indoors by Tornado During Training”

Published on

England’s national team players spent time with young fans during their initial training session in Kansas just before a Tornado struck the area. Following a severe storm warning, the team had to remain indoors at their World Cup team hotel in Missouri. Captain Harry Kane and the squad were watching a sports event when the alert was issued for Kansas City. Two tornadoes touched down in the region, leaving many homes without power. The team had to stay inside during the storm, which locals described as one of the worst in the past year.

During the training session, Leah Enright, Blind Sports Coordinator, demonstrated Blind Soccer to local students. Additionally, a Unified Team, consisting of players with and without intellectual disabilities, and Ryogoku Soccer Academy players interacted with the England team.

The storm hit the area shortly after the training session, prompting warnings to take shelter due to the severe weather conditions. The team hotel staff advised the players to follow the storm protocol and stay indoors.

The upcoming match against Croatia in Dallas is expected to be hot, with temperatures reaching 33°C (95°F). Thousands of fans are anticipated at the game, including England Supporters Travel Club members and other passionate supporters. The stadium’s capacity has been adjusted for the tournament, and fans from various regions, including the United States and beyond, are expected to attend.

Pam Kramer, CEO of KC2026, expressed delight in hosting the England team and other national teams in Kansas City, highlighting the region’s thriving soccer culture.

This summer’s events are not just about matches but also a chance to showcase the welcoming nature of the region to the world.
