Lorraine Kelly recently shared a touching story about a kind gesture from a beloved musician following a frightening incident she experienced. While reflecting on the music that has influenced her life on BBC Radio 2’s Tracks of My Years with Vernon Kay, the 66-year-old television host revealed that her all-time favorite song is “Careful” by Horse McDonald. Lorraine expressed how the singer, who is also a close friend, provided solace during a difficult period.
Describing Horse as an extraordinary woman with a soul-stirring voice, Lorraine recounted how the singer visited her after she had a serious accident and sang “Careful” to her in her garden. Overwhelmed by the emotional moment, Lorraine mentioned that her husband had arranged for Horse to perform for her, emphasizing the significance of the gesture during her challenging time.
Although Lorraine did not specify the exact nature of the accident, in the past, she disclosed a harrowing horse-riding incident in 2012 where she narrowly escaped a life-threatening situation. In honor of the NHS’s 70th anniversary, the ITV presenter commended the exceptional care she received at St George’s Hospital in south London following the accident.
During a recent visit to the hospital, Lorraine reunited with consultant Sarah Krishnanandan, who was part of the medical team that treated her during her emergency admission. Ms. Krishnanandan recalled Lorraine’s arrival with a severe thigh wound and significant blood loss from being trampled by a horse, highlighting the vital role of the healthcare service in such critical situations.
Expressing her gratitude, Lorraine acknowledged the outstanding support she received from the hospital staff and praised their professionalism. Additionally, Lorraine’s daughter, Rosie Smith, who was by her mother’s side throughout her hospitalization, also appreciated the exceptional care provided by the medical team.
Lorraine’s popular show airs weekdays at 9.30am on ITV and ITVX. For more trusted news content, make Daily Mirror your ‘Preferred Source’ on Google News.
