A tragic incident unfolded as a young beauty queen, Eleisha Skinner, lost her life in a heartbreaking accident involving her own car while unloading items during winter. The 21-year-old student at Buckinghamshire New University was parking her black Audi A1 outside her accommodation in High Wycombe on January 4 after returning from the Christmas break. While unloading the car, the vehicle unexpectedly moved, leading to Ms. Skinner getting pinned against a wall outside the accommodation, as revealed in the coroner’s court.

Emergency services were alerted by a resident at the accommodation who heard a loud noise, a woman’s scream, and calls for help before discovering Ms. Skinner unconscious. The police noted that the driveway was icy due to winter weather conditions, causing it to be extremely slippery. Despite being rushed to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, Ms. Skinner tragically passed away on January 8.

During the inquest, it was highlighted that the driveway lacked proper salting or gritting and lacked barriers or railings to prevent such accidents. The accommodation’s owners, Howarth Property, have since installed railings following the incident. However, the coroner issued a report to the property owners expressing concerns about the potential for similar incidents and requested details on safety measures implemented.

A medical examination determined that Ms. Skinner, a former beauty queen, died from anoxic brain injury due to asphyxia compression. Her family paid a heartfelt tribute, describing her as a kind, selfless, and passionate young woman who brightened the world with her presence. Buckinghamshire New University announced that Ms. Skinner would posthumously receive a BSc with honors in social work as a mark of respect.
