After being forced to leave his residence by the local council, Caesar, the 4ft fiberglass gorilla, found a new home and gained popularity online. Flight Centre, a travel agency specializing in long-haul trips, has taken in Caesar and placed him at their store in London’s South Molton Street.
Previously residing in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, Caesar was proudly displayed by his owner Adele Teale for a year. Due to lack of planning permission, Teale had to relocate Caesar after a complaint from Wakefield Council. Caesar, who had spent 15 years at Teale’s home in Leeds without incident, embarked on a scenic journey to London, making stops at iconic landmarks like Big Ben and Downing Street.
Flight Centre’s general manager, Joe Beevis, expressed delight in welcoming Caesar, emphasizing the importance of sustainable tourism. Caesar’s transition to London was carefully managed, ensuring his well-being during the journey. Now settled at the South Molton Street store, Caesar is adapting well to Mayfair life, even forming opinions on the air conditioning.
Teale, Caesar’s devoted owner, shared her satisfaction with the outcome, believing Flight Centre will provide excellent care for Caesar. Fans can visit Caesar at the Flight Centre store in Mayfair, and in celebration of his arrival, the agency is offering a 10% discount on selected Africa Tours with Intrepid Travel through their website.
