A British toddler, aged three, tragically passed away after being discovered unconscious in a pool at a rented villa in Pollensa, Mallorca. The parents found the child by the poolside and immediately initiated CPR before emergency services took over. Despite efforts to revive her, the little girl remained in critical condition at Son Espases Hospital and eventually succumbed to her injuries.
The Civil Guard is currently investigating the incident, with a spokesperson confirming the child’s death. This marks the fourth recent tragedy involving UK families in Spain, with similar incidents occurring in the Costa del Sol and the Canary Islands. Just days before, a one-year-old British child also lost their life after a pool incident in Fuerteventura.
In a separate incident, a British four-year-old girl drowned in a Lanzarote hotel pool, despite emergency responders’ attempts to save her. Additionally, a three-year-old British boy tragically died after falling into a pool near the Costa del Sol. These heartbreaking incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of constant supervision and water safety for young children.
Sebastian Quintana, president of Canarias 1500 Km de Costa, expressed condolences to the families affected by these tragedies, emphasizing the need for vigilant supervision around water bodies. Investigations by local authorities are ongoing to understand the circumstances leading to these unfortunate events.
