The recent heatwave in the UK prompted me to make multiple trips to the beach within a week, despite the distance from my home. Enjoying the fantastic seaside environment under the sun or stars made the drive worthwhile.

Recognizing that the warm weather is temporary, I seized every opportunity to be outdoors. Among the various seaside locations I visited, Troon, just a short drive from Glasgow, stood out for its culinary offerings.

Having not visited Troon for over six months since a cold winter day, the recent outing was a stark contrast. Despite a brief interruption by a thunderstorm during the day, the sun reappeared as we leisurely walked along the tranquil shoreline with few others around.

Our beach stroll, free from harsh winds, led us to The Wee Hurrie at the harbor for a delightful dinner. Known for its fresh seafood and picturesque harbor setting, the award-winning chippy lived up to its reputation with a superb dining experience.

The scampi, coated in a light batter, was exceptionally fresh and satisfying. The diverse and creative menu made choosing a dish a delightful challenge. The meal, accompanied by tartare sauce and lemon, was perfectly seasoned and portioned.

At the price of £14.30, the meal was a worthwhile investment that left a lasting impression. Although it was a takeaway without seating, the long queue of patrons waiting to order reflected the food’s popularity. Eating outdoors by the shack further emphasized the meal’s deliciousness.

While the food was the primary draw to Troon that evening, the pleasant weather encouraged us to take a leisurely walk down the high street, adding to the enjoyable experience.

Despite the shorter visit compared to previous ones, the combination of delectable food and beautiful evening sunshine made the trip truly memorable. Whether you have a few hours to spare or are traveling from afar, Troon offers a wonderful exploration opportunity.
