Emergency services are currently conducting a search for a young boy who was observed struggling in the water in Salford. Police divers have been deployed to the River Irwell at Clifton Country Park to assist in the operation. The Greater Manchester Police received a call on Saturday, June 27, 2026, reporting the incident and have since been coordinating with emergency response teams at the scene.

Following an incident on Saturday evening, authorities have initiated an emergency response operation this morning. The incident took place near a sandy area close to a bridge that spans the River Irwell within the park.

According to witnesses, a teenage boy entered the water along with other youths. While a teenage girl was rescued by her companions, reportedly unharmed but emotionally distressed, another boy managed to extricate himself from the water during the event.

Search teams have been seen on a bridge this morning, assessing the river’s conditions as part of their efforts. Although the park remains open to the public, certain pathways have been cordoned off for safety measures.
