Music remains a hot topic in Cardiff this week, as the Welsh capital basks in the afterglow of Lewis Capaldi’s captivating two-night performance. Drawing in over 80,000 fans at Blackweir Fields on June 30 and July 1, the Scottish musician delivered a memorable show that kept Cardiff’s summer concert season on a high note.
The sold-out concerts featured an impressive 18-song lineup, showcasing all six of Capaldi’s chart-topping hits along with his popular rendition of Britney Spears’ ‘Everytime’. Simultaneously, just a short distance away, Katy Perry was enthralling a massive crowd at Bute Park, located within Cardiff Castle’s grounds.
Attendees had a plethora of food options to choose from, including Italian dishes, duck, hot chicken, and delectable sweets. This led to speculation about Capaldi’s dining choices during his stay in Cardiff, and it seems that he may have hinted at his favorite food during his second show.
During one of his humorous interactions with the audience, Capaldi mentioned The Spud Fam, a popular food vendor at the event, praising their jacket potatoes. The Spud Fam, known for their loaded jacket potatoes, dirty fries, and breakfast baps, normally operates at Aberafan Shopping Centre in Port Talbot.
According to a Facebook post by one of the owners, Capaldi opted for a unique combination on his jacket potato – cheese, beans, and tuna. While simple, this choice provided a nutritious blend of complex carbohydrates, protein, and fiber, ideal for sustaining energy and aiding muscle recovery before a lively stage performance.
The Spud Fam recounted the amusing incident on TikTok, sharing how Capaldi’s team requested to skip the queue for a potato as the singer had to go onstage. Despite offering the meal for free, Capaldi insisted on paying with his card, creating a surreal moment for the food vendors.
