A shark attack left a 13-year-old boy severely injured after he was bitten on the thigh while fishing on a boat in the United States. Witnesses described the frantic rush to assist the boy before emergency services arrived in McIntosh County, Georgia.
The incident occurred near Ossabaw Island, approximately 20 miles south of Savannah, on a Wednesday afternoon. The Coast Guard confirmed that the victim was swiftly transferred to a local hospital for treatment.
Following the attack, the boy’s father urgently sought medical help as the boat reached the shore. The teenager, accompanied by his father and two others, was fishing when the shark attacked and clamped onto his thigh.
A witness, Terry Tatum, recounted the distressing scene, stating that upon approaching the boat, they saw the teenagers in need of help. It was revealed that they had caught a large shark, which bit the young man’s thigh as they attempted to release it.
Responding to the emergency, McIntosh County EMS volunteer BJ Comer quickly provided assistance, emphasizing the need for immediate medical attention. The patient was safely transferred off the boat by EMS personnel for further treatment.
