Freeview has announced significant changes to its channel lineup, including a revamp of the TV guide with new positions and a renaming. The notable update involves the closure of Talk channel (Ch 280), a British news channel known for debate, opinion-led journalism, and politics featuring well-known presenters like Jeremy Kyle, Mark Dolan, and Kevin O’Sullivan.
Viewers who wish to access Talk channel will now need to use the official Talk app or other platforms such as Samsung TVs, Roku devices, and LG screens.
Additionally, Freeview’s latest update reveals that Wedotv Big Stories on channel 275 will be rebranded as Wedotv, along with three services moving to new spots on the planner.
Kids content on Ketchup TV, Ketchup Too, and Cartoon Classics will have new channel positions: Ketchup TV shifts from Ch 209 to Ch 208, Ketchup Too moves from Ch 210 to Ch 209, and Cartoon Classics, previously on Ch 214, can now be found on Ch 210.
Freeview confirmed that on 25th June 2026, some broadcasters will be implementing changes to their channels, as channels on Freeview are constantly evolving, with individual channels deciding to relocate, add, or remove channels to offer audiences diverse content options.
To ensure that your TV displays the correct channels, it is recommended to access the settings and perform a retune. Freeview advises that a retune is necessary to update your TV and maintain an up-to-date TV Guide.
To retune your TV:
– Press the menu on your box or TV remote control.
– Select ‘set-up’, ‘installation’, ‘update’, or a similar option. If prompted for a password, use the default code ‘1234’ or ‘0000’.
– Choose ‘first-time installation’ (also known as ‘factory reset’, ‘full retune’, or ‘default settings’).
– If asked, confirm the deletion of existing channels, and the retune should commence automatically. Save the channels found if prompted.
