Gregg Wallace has openly shared his longing for the days of his MasterChef job and the opportunity to dress elegantly every day following his departure from the BBC. After being a prominent figure on the BBC cooking program alongside John Torode for nearly two decades, Gregg decided to step away from the show in November 2024 due to ongoing misconduct allegations.
A subsequent investigation upheld 45 out of 83 claims against him, including an incident of “unwelcome physical contact,” leading to his dismissal from the presenting role last year. Currently, Gregg is in the process of downsizing, with reports indicating that his £1.3m residence in Kent is up for sale. Despite these changes, he remains active on his YouTube channel, The Gregg Wallace Way.
In a recent video, Gregg disclosed some behind-the-scenes insights from his time on MasterChef, reflecting on what he misses the most about his past role. He expressed, “There are several things I miss about not being on MasterChef anymore. Firstly, the financial aspect. It was lucrative. Secondly, I miss the travel, exploring various restaurants worldwide. And I miss dressing in stylish attire daily.”
Notably, in 2024, it was reported that Gregg earned £400,000 from his TV work, which might have included other projects related to MasterChef. Despite the challenges he faced towards the end of his television career, Gregg fondly remembers his two-decade involvement with MasterChef as one of his most rewarding experiences.
Married to Anne-Marie Sterpini and father to a young son named Sid, Gregg previously discussed his decision to sell his home on TikTok, citing the importance of financial stability for his family. He emphasized the desire to lead a more relaxed life, ensuring security for his loved ones, particularly with a younger wife and a son with special needs to care for. Gregg plans to transition to a more modest residence, reduce his work commitments, and potentially spend part of the year in Italy with his family, as they have a fondness for the country.
