A tragic incident occurred in south London where a family of three tragically fell from a tower block to their deaths. The victims were identified as Aditi Vijay Paralkar, 46, a real estate property developer, Rakesh Narayan Pai, 47, and their nine-year-old son Sid Rene Pai-Paralkar. The unfortunate event took place at the Uncle residential tower in Elephant and Castle on May 27.
According to Detective Sergeant Simon Monga from the Metropolitan Police, the family fell from a height onto another building, and their bodies were later recovered by the London Fire Brigade. The inquest revealed that Ms. Paralkar and Mr. Pai succumbed to multiple injuries, while the cause of Sid’s death is still pending determination.
Emergency services responded to the incident after receiving reports at 7:29 am that three individuals had fallen from a height. Tragically, all three were pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner confirmed that Mr. Pai, Ms. Paralkar, and Sid were formally identified using their passports found at their residence.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with authorities awaiting the results of pathology and forensic examinations to establish the sequence of events leading to the tragic deaths. The inquest has been adjourned until the police investigation concludes, a process that could take approximately six months, especially regarding Sid’s case.
In response to the tragic incident, Bermondsey and Old Southwark MP Neil Coyle assured residents that the police were focused on the ongoing investigations and not seeking anyone else in connection with the deaths. He mentioned that the family had been residing on the 36th floor of the 45-storey tower block, having recently moved to the UK. Sid, the young victim, had significant health challenges, including kidney disease, and was being homeschooled.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the incident is under investigation, with the authorities treating the deaths as unexpected. Efforts are underway to formally identify the deceased victims, with their next-of-kin receiving support from specialized officers during this difficult time.
