UFC enthusiasts are raising suspicions that Conor McGregor sustained an injury prior to his bout with Max Holloway. McGregor’s return to the UFC at UFC 329 was short-lived, lasting only 69 seconds before he had to withdraw due to a suspected knee ligament tear. Although McGregor left the ring without addressing the issue, speculations quickly arose among fans, asserting that McGregor was already injured before the fight commenced.
One fan expressed, “Conor was undoubtedly injured well before the event and had to contend with it, knowing he would disappoint many of his fans and MMA followers. This is unacceptable, and UFC fans demand an immediate explanation, with McGregor possibly needing to retire at this point.”
Another supporter added, “Conor McGregor appeared to be limping before even stepping into the octagon and displayed a lack of confidence and focus. It seems likely that he was carrying an injury prior to the fight.” A third fan remarked, “It appears Conor was already nursing an injury when he entered the cage. Fighters never return the same way… Nevertheless, he remains a legend.”
Speculation further arose as another comment questioned, “There were rumors circulating that Conor McGregor was injured when he missed the first episode of Embedded, raising concerns about a potential fight cancellation. Was Conor already dealing with an injury at that point?”
Despite being booed upon exiting the cage, McGregor received support from Holloway, who praised his opponent’s toughness. Holloway hinted at a potential third match between them, emphasizing the anticipation and disappointment surrounding the abrupt end of their recent encounter.
Holloway remarked, “It is what it is. I’ll sit down with the UFC. There was so much anticipation for that fight. We need to have a rematch. I was eager for this. I had put in the effort to reach 170 lbs and face McGregor. It’s disappointing that it ended this way.”
