“Simple Switch to Liquid Detergent Transforms Laundry Routine”

Published on

Laundry has always been a dreaded task for many, including myself. The never-ending cycle of washing clothes seems to be a universal struggle, with a new load always waiting to be dealt with.

Considering the amount of laundry required even for a small household, one can only imagine the volume for a large family. Despite the chore being unavoidable, I had been following the same laundry routine for years, which had been mostly effective.

However, a recent simple adjustment in my approach has brought about a significant improvement in the process.

Up until a few weeks ago, my laundry ritual involved the usual sorting of lights and darks, loading the machine with a laundry pod, air-drying the clothes, ironing, and repeating the cycle.

Previously, I had not been particular about the type of laundry pods I used, often opting for those on sale at the supermarket. While some pods left a pleasant scent on the clothes, a recurring issue I faced was the occasional explosion of the pods during the wash, especially evident in white loads, leading to stubborn stains.

Furthermore, I found that some pods did not leave the clothes as soft as desired, particularly the more economical options. Seeking a change, I switched to liquid detergent, a simple yet impactful decision that transformed my laundry routine.

The switch to liquid detergent proved to be not only more cost-effective compared to pods but also offered a variety of scents. I opted for the Almat detergent in Tropical Lily from Aldi, which resembled the fragrance of a renowned brand but at a fraction of the price, costing only £1.79 for 28 washes.

Eliminating fabric softener from my routine was another change I made, as it can leave clothes stiff over time. Instead, I now pour a capful of liquid detergent directly into the drawer for each wash, resulting in exceptionally soft clothes despite air-drying them consistently.

While the convenience of pre-measured pods was lost in this new method, the improved softness and freshness of the clothes made it worthwhile. Not only did the switch eliminate stubborn stains, but it also provided a longer-lasting, pleasant fragrance that surpassed the results of using pods.

Moreover, using liquid detergent contributes to a reduction in plastic packaging waste, making it a more environmentally friendly choice. Despite the minor inconvenience of potential spillages, the benefits of liquid detergent far outweigh the drawbacks.

For those accustomed to using laundry pods and seeking a change, transitioning to liquid detergent comes highly recommended for a more efficient and effective laundry experience.
