“London Pizzeria Named Europe’s Best for Third Year Running”

In the realm of award-winning pizza, the UK might not be the first place that springs to mind, but a remarkable London establishment has carved out a stellar reputation for itself. Napoli on the Road, owned by renowned chef Michele Pascarella, has clinched the title of Europe’s top pizzeria for the third consecutive year, as bestowed by the prestigious 50 Top Pizza guide.

Adding to its accolades, Pascarella was also honored as the Best Pizza Maker in the World 2023, with the signature Ricordi d’Infanzia pizza named the Best Pizza in the World 2025. This feat is particularly noteworthy given that Naples is the traditional hub of pizza, yet Pascarella has transported his culinary wizardry to the heart of London.

Following Napoli on the Road’s triumphant win this summer, a visit to their Soho branch beckoned. The restaurant, reminiscent of a classic Italian eatery, boasts a concise menu brimming with intricate flavors. While traditional pizzas are on offer, it’s the ‘Pizza NoTR’ specials that steal the limelight, showcasing some of their most renowned and inventive creations.

During a recent visit, a classic Margherita and the famed Ricordi d’Infanzia, featuring slow-cooked beef ragu, Parmigiano fondue, basil, and oil, were sampled. Additionally, the Cheesewick, a delectable blend of cheeses and toppings, stood out on the special menu.

The interior of the restaurant, akin to its Chiswick and Richmond counterparts, exudes an industrial charm with a modern touch. The ambiance is further enhanced by a lower-level seating area, catering to a bustling crowd. Opting for a takeaway experience provided a respite from the bustling atmosphere.

The pizzas, characterized by a thin base and chewy crusts, deftly bear the weight of the generous toppings. The Ricordi d’Infanzia, a unique fusion of lasagne and bolognese flavors, impresses with its rich ragu and ample Parmigiano cheese. While the base lacked structural integrity, a characteristic of Neapolitan-style pizzas, the overall dining experience was exceptional.

The culinary inspiration behind these masterpieces stems from Michele’s childhood memories of his family’s traditional Sunday meals. The Neapolitan ragù, simmered for hours, served as the genesis for the innovative pizza toppings, evoking a sense of nostalgia and tradition.

In conclusion, Napoli on the Road’s culinary prowess shines brightly, offering a taste of Italy’s finest within the vibrant streets of London. The restaurant’s commitment to quality and innovation has rightfully earned it a top spot among the world’s best pizzerias.
