Three individuals tragically fell to their deaths from a 213-foot tall tourist landmark in Germany. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the Harz Tower in Altenau, located in the Goslar district of Lower Saxony, where the incident occurred around 4:45 pm. Despite rescue efforts, the individuals could not be saved.

Authorities have cordoned off the area, and privacy screens have been set up as the cause of the accident remains unclear. The tower is managed by Harzturm GmbH, who have not provided any comments on the incident. However, a notice on their website states that the tower will be closed all day on July 17, 2026.

Situated in Torfhaus, the highest village in Germany’s Harz Mountains, the renowned lookout tower is claimed to be the tallest observation tower in the country. Constructed from wood and steel at a cost of approximately 10 million euros, the tower features a glass-floored skywalk at a height of around 45 meters. Visitors can access the top via stairs or a lift, with an additional option to descend using a 110-meter slide.

Despite attempts to reach Harzturm GmbH for further information, they were unavailable for comment. Their website displayed a message indicating the closure of the tower on July 17, 2026. The tower was opened to the public in 2024.
