The will of Katharine, Duchess of Kent, has been disclosed, showing that her substantial wealth has been distributed to her offspring and specific charitable organizations. The beloved Duchess passed away in September 2025 at the age of 92, in the presence of her family at Wren House, Kensington Palace.

After a span of 10 months, probate documents unveiled on Monday indicate that she allocated the majority of her seven-figure estate to her three children: George Windsor, known as the Earl of St Andrews, Lady Helen Taylor, and Lord Nicholas Windsor.

According to the probate records, the Duchess, who was wedded for 64 years to the late Queen’s cousin, the Duke of Kent, bequeathed £1,433,696 in the UK, which was adjusted to a net estate of £1,433,206 after settling debts.

Additionally, the late Duchess designated £10,000 to the charity Future Talent Musicians, an organization she co-established in 2004 to support talented young musicians from underprivileged backgrounds.

Furthermore, she left legacies of £5,000 each to her nine godchildren: Catherine Cameron, Tania Astor, Clare Kerr, Amabel Kerr, Emma Scott, Christopher Morrell, Edward Marsh, Andrew Burley, and George Anandraj.

All her personal belongings, including jewelry, furnishings, and various household items, were inherited by her spouse, the Duke of Kent, with instructions in her will for him to distribute the items according to her wishes.

Her will, disclosed through probate records, was formalized on October 5, 2022, under the name ‘Katharine Kent’, witnessed by a personal assistant and an occupational therapist.

The will specified that her stake in a property in Edwardes Square, Kensington, in west London, be bestowed upon her grandson Edward Edmund Maximilian George Windsor, the Baron Downpatrick.

Moreover, the Duchess directed that the income from her interest in the family trust, the Worsley Settlement, be granted to her husband, the Duke of Kent, for his lifetime.

Typically, the wills of senior members of the Royal Family are sealed and kept confidential for at least 90 years. However, the Duchess’s will is believed to have been made public due to her withdrawal from royal duties in 2002.

Following her demise last year, tributes to the Duchess were led by the Prince and Princess of Wales, acknowledging her as the oldest living royal family member at the time.

Prince William and Kate expressed, “Our condolences today go out to The Duke of Kent and his family, especially George, Helen, and Nicholas. The Duchess dedicated herself to charitable endeavors and supported numerous causes, notably through her passion for music. She will be dearly missed within the family.”
