A father shared his harrowing ordeal after his three-year-old daughter was bitten by a venomous snake hidden under an Amazon package. Manuel Barajas recounted how his daughter, Addy, was bitten by a Southern Pacific rattlesnake at their home in Santa Clarita, California, as she excitedly went outside to retrieve a gift that had just been delivered in an Amazon parcel.

While picking up the package, Addy inadvertently encountered the snake, leading to a bite on her left hand. Acting swiftly, Addy’s mother, Lynn, rushed her to nearby first responders in a supermarket parking lot, who then rushed her to a hospital for urgent antivenom treatment.

Addy spent two nights in a pediatric intensive care unit receiving multiple rounds of antivenom therapy, but fortunately, she has shown remarkable progress since then. Barajas updated that Addy is now doing well, with about 70% recovery and high spirits despite being bruised on her left hand from the snake bite.

Barajas, who was away on business during the incident, hurried back home to be with his family. The family now faces substantial medical expenses from Addy’s hospitalization, antivenom treatments, and her time in the pediatric ICU. Barajas also missed a week’s worth of work while tending to his family post the snake incident.

Seeking assistance, Barajas set up a GoFundMe page, expressing the overwhelming challenges they are confronting due to the unexpected medical costs. Despite their hesitation to ask for help, they emphasized the necessity of support during this trying period.
