An Afghan boxer, Sharif Ahmadzai, is under suspicion for the murder of British aid worker Elisabeth-Jane Ross in Athens. Ahmadzai was allegedly captured on CCTV wheeling a suitcase out of Ross’s apartment, where her body was later discovered. He is scheduled to face an investigating magistrate in Athens following his arrest by Greek police on charges of intentional homicide, robbery, and illegal weapon possession.

Authorities revealed that Ahmadzai confessed to hiding Ross’s body in the suitcase and withdrawing money from her credit cards after her death. However, he denies committing the murder. George Kalliakmanis, the honorary president of the police officers’ association in Athens, stated that Ahmadzai was caught on camera moving Ross’s body to the dumping site and using her credit cards to withdraw funds.

Ahmadzai’s wife, Alaina Hall, who was acquainted with Ross, assisted the police in the investigation by reporting suspicious behavior by her husband. According to reports, Hall found Ahmadzai missing and traced his location to Ross’s apartment, leading to his eventual arrest. During a search of their home, authorities discovered incriminating evidence, including a replica pistol and a military-style knife.

Further investigations revealed that Ahmadzai allegedly sent misleading messages from Ross’s phone to her family and friends, pretending to be her. The motive behind the alleged murder is still being determined by the authorities, with various speculations including theft, sexual assault, or a personal dispute.
