Three individuals have been taken into custody following a tragic incident where a two-year-old girl from Arkansas lost her life in a dog attack.
Earnest Jackson, aged 54, Christina Hart, aged 41, and MaKayla Jackson, aged 21, have been arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor in connection with the distressing event, as per a statement from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office. It remains unclear whether they have entered pleas or sought legal representation.
Authorities responded to a call on March 28 reporting an “animal attack involving a 2-year-old girl.” Law enforcement officials informed KATV that a nearby loose dog had pulled the girl into the woods, resulting in her tragic death at the scene.
According to a police statement, deputies were dispatched to the 6000 block of Norman Road following the distressing incident. The statement reads: “The following individuals have been arrested and charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Minor: MaKayla Jackson, Earnest Jackson, and Christina Hart. The dog involved in the attack is under the custody of the Pulaski County Animal Control Division.”
The arrested individuals are currently detained at the Regional Detention Facility.
In response to the heartbreaking loss, the girl’s grandmother initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist the family with funeral expenses. A message on the fundraising page describes the young girl, Celeste, as a bright and beloved child, deeply missed by all who knew her.
