Flau’jae Johnson led the charge with 20 points, supported by Dominique Malonga who contributed 18 points, as the Seattle Storm triumphed over the undermanned Toronto Tempo with a final score of 90-78 on Wednesday night. Jade Melbourne also made an impact with 16 points and seven assists for Seattle, a team that had struggled with 14 losses in their last 15 games. Awa Fam and Zia Cooke each chipped in with 10 points apiece.
Toronto faced a challenge missing their top scorers Marina Mabrey (adductor), Brittney Sykes (foot), and Nyara Sabally (calf). Despite this setback, rookie Kiki Rice showcased her skills with a season-high of 24 points for Toronto, while Isabelle Harrison recorded a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds.
Seattle took control of the game in the third quarter, ending it with an 11-4 run to secure a 64-61 lead. The Storm continued their dominance into the fourth quarter with a 9-2 spree, extending their lead to 10 points.
In the upcoming games, the Toronto Tempo will face Las Vegas on Friday night, while the Seattle Storm will host Los Angeles on Sunday.
