In a thrilling Canadian Championship semifinal first leg match at Stade Boreale, Forge FC managed to salvage a 1-1 draw against FC Supra du Quebec with a late equalizer from Daniel Krutzen in the 95th minute.

The opening goal came from Ibrahim Conde of Supra, highlighting their struggle to close out games, as noted by their head coach Nick Razzaghi. Despite the disappointment, Razzaghi praised his team’s character and defensive performance.

Both teams made significant lineup changes from their previous Canadian Premier League encounter just four days prior. Forge, a consistent force in the Canadian Championship semifinals, adjusted their game to match the high standards they are known for.

Forge’s head coach Bobby Smyrniotis cautioned against complacency, emphasizing the need to remain focused and humble throughout the competition. He expressed satisfaction with the result and looked forward to the next leg at Hamilton Stadium, where Forge has a strong track record.

Supra took the lead in the 36th minute through Conde’s well-taken goal, capitalizing on a counterattack orchestrated by Loic Kwemi. Forge responded with attacking intent but struggled to find the net in the first half.

In the second half, Forge increased the pressure on Supra’s defense, creating numerous scoring chances. Despite Supra’s disciplined approach, they faced challenges in building up play from the back.

Krutzen’s late heroics sealed the draw for Forge, as he capitalized on a chaotic moment in the box to score the equalizer. The second leg of the semifinal is set for September 15 in Hamilton.

Forge’s home dominance was evident once again, showcasing their prowess and resilience in crucial matches. The upcoming second leg promises more excitement and intense competition between the two sides.
