A woman has been handed a life sentence for the murder of her four-week-old baby in a gruesome incident.

In 2005, 25-year-old China Arnold was residing with her partner, Terrell Talley, and their children in Dayton, Ohio. Arnold took her newborn daughter, Paris, to the hospital in early August while under the influence. The baby was unresponsive, leading to Arnold’s arrest, although she was initially released due to insufficient evidence.

Subsequently, it was uncovered that Arnold had placed the infant in a microwave following a dispute with her boyfriend over the child’s paternity. Forensic analysis matched the child’s DNA to the microwave, indicating extreme heat exposure leading to the baby’s demise.

Arnold’s former cellmate disclosed that Arnold admitted to killing her daughter out of fear of her partner discovering her infidelity. The autopsy revealed severe heat-related injuries consistent with internal temperatures exceeding 42C.

After a series of trials and testimonies, Arnold was convicted of aggravated murder, resulting in a lifelong imprisonment without parole. Despite appeals, the sentence was upheld, with evaluations indicating Arnold’s mental state was stable, aside from mild depression and substance abuse issues. Arnold is currently serving her sentence at the Dayton Correctional Institution.
