A court was informed that a woman has refuted the accusations of fabricating false claims of sexual abuse against two ex-politicians.

Esther Baker, aged 43, entered not guilty pleas to four charges of perverting the course of justice during a brief appearance at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court. The charges include accusations against former Lib Dem MP John Hemming and the deceased Lib Dem peer Roy Jenkins.

Additionally, she is charged with falsely implicating Simon Cole, the former chief constable of Leicestershire Police who passed away in 2022, as an individual who facilitated or supported the commission of sexual offenses against her.

Although specific details of the allegations were not disclosed in court, documents indicate that Baker allegedly misidentified Mr. Hemming as someone who had committed sexual offenses against her.

Baker purportedly made similar assertions regarding former Labour and Social Democratic Party MP Mr. Jenkins, who passed away in 2003.

She is further accused of claiming to be a victim of sexual offenses by groups or males in Cannock Chase, Staffordshire, as well as other outdoor settings, private residences, and unspecified locations. These alleged offenses reportedly occurred between December 31, 2014, and September 19, 2020.

David Woods, Baker’s solicitor, confirmed her not guilty pleas in court and stated, “She maintains the accusations in the case are truthful.””

Following the hearing, District Judge Timothy Boswell granted Baker unconditional bail. Her next court appearance is scheduled at Liverpool Crown Court on February 11.

Last week, the Crown Prosecution Service announced that the charges resulted from a thorough investigation into claims made during a probe into alleged organized sexual abuse involving public figures.
