Tory defector Robert Jenrick has strongly criticized former Prime Minister Liz Truss, calling for her expulsion from the Conservative Party. Following his switch to Reform UK, Jenrick revealed that he repeatedly urged Tory leader Kemi Badenoch to remove Truss, highlighting the party’s lack of change in failing to act on this issue.

In a recent opinion piece, Jenrick condemned Truss’s post-office media engagements as “unrepentant” and “vainglorious,” questioning why she has not been ousted despite causing harm. He criticized the party for lacking the resolve to confront the situation, which he believes reflects a broader reluctance to tackle necessary reforms.

During an interview with Sky News, Jenrick expressed his belief that Truss should have been expelled from the party due to the negative impact of her decisions, particularly referencing a controversial mini-Budget that he deemed careless and harmful to the public. Truss responded to Jenrick’s remarks, questioning his motives and labeling him a “Trojan horse.”

Furthermore, Jenrick hinted at a potential defection of a former Labour MP to Reform UK, following Nigel Farage’s recent tease about a possible switch. The ex-Tory frontbencher suggested that the party is attracting members from various political backgrounds, indicating a growing diversity within its ranks.

The trend of defections continued as Tory MP Andrew Rosindell joined Reform UK, eliciting a sharp response from Labour party chair Anna Turley. Turley criticized the move as a sign of the Conservative Party’s decline, accusing Reform UK of attempting to revive the failed policies of the Tories.
