The snowfall is expected to intensify on January 31 and spread southwards into the early hours of February 1, potentially affecting most parts of the UK. Scotland, particularly the Cairngorms National Park, is likely to experience the most significant snow accumulation, with up to 72cm expected.

Northern Ireland and Wales are also expected to face severe wintry weather, with only a few areas like Hampshire and Cornwall escaping the snowfall. Cities such as Aberdeen, Dundee, and Newcastle could see substantial snowfall amounts. Capital cities like Belfast, Cardiff, and London are also expected to be impacted, with London potentially receiving around 2cm of snow.

The upcoming snowfall will coincide with freezing temperatures across the country, with sub-zero conditions forecasted for January 31 morning. Some regions may experience temperatures as low as -6C. The Met Office’s long-range forecast for the end of January and the beginning of February also indicates the likelihood of snow and icy conditions.
