Various opposition figures, including Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch, have capitalized on Trump’s comments to launch verbal attacks on Starmer regarding the Chagos deal. Badenoch is expected to use this opportunity to condemn the decision to transfer the Chagos Islands to Mauritius during PMQs.
In a related context, Starmer had expressed gratitude for Badenoch’s support in response to Trump’s threats concerning Greenland. The US President had threatened to impose tariffs on goods from certain NATO allies, including the UK, until a deal was reached regarding Greenland.
